Coastal Resources

Coasts contain a variety of biological and physical resources. By being adjacent to water, coastal regions include fish and other types of marine life that are important food sources for humans. Coasts also contain sand and other sediments, which are valuable resources for maintaining healthy beach and dune systems.

Because of the many activities that take place along the coast, it is important to manage coastal resources sustainably and efficiently. Coasts are constantly changing places; therefore, access to and availability of resources changes as well.
